Sleep

Sleep and Pee. It seems to be our worst enemies lately. Pee everywhere, we use the shark steamer very often and I feel like all I do is wash wet sheets! Between the two of them it's a little bit of a rough time, but I suppose if pee and lack of sleep are the worst of our problems we are doing ok.

After some crying and repeatedly saying nose because he got all stuffy Joshua fell asleep on his own without me laying next to him, which is the first time in his little life. He did in fact wake up 30 minutes later screaming but is now sleeping again...we shall see.

Jacob is in the stage of just not wanting to go to bed, you know the old "I'm too cool for sleep" attitude. But once asleep he is good...unless of course he soaks himself in a grand old sea of bed wet. Doesn't happen often but he is only a lad and has an accident every now and again.

It's been awhile

I haven't posted in so long because honestly life was a little nuts! So let's get a little update on these two lovely boys.

Jacob starts soccer tomorrow which ought to be lots of fun! He is very excited. He is getting bigger everyday, I honestly can't believe he is going to be 4 in a few months. He is trying to decide between being a Blue Power Ranger or Optimus Prime for Halloween...we will see who wins!

Joshua is starting to talk in sentences which is honestly weird. Today he decided to say, "Shake your Butt" to Jacob and of course Jacob couldn't stop laughing so Joshua said it again and again. He started school and LOVES it of course.

I feel very lucky every single day to be the mother of these wonderful boys. They are the light of my life along with the best hubby anyone could ever ask for. I never knew I could love 3 people as much as I love them.

I gotta say one of the great highlights of my life having two boys and one man in the house is dealing with all the POOP! I am sorry but boys are GROSS!!!!!!!

This morning for example. I picked Joshua up from his jumper and without my knowledge he had done a significantly large poop. So I picked him up as usual and basically squeezed the poop out of his diaper onto my arm, my pjs, his back and the floor. NASTY. This, by the way, was the second time this happened to me. How in the WORLD did this happen twice? All I know is I was very happy to have Jon home this time around to help me get the nasty poop off my arm and the floor.

The crazy part is this is just the beginning!!!

Joshie Boy has this new great high pitched scream/squeal he just loves. He does it when he is frustrated as well as happy...haha so we are learning to distinguish the sounds! We will have to try and capture this great new talent on tape.

Jacob pants now loves to have everything that Joshie boy has and Joshie also wants everything Jacob has...it is adventurous.

Jacob it turns out is quite good a baseball. He can swing and hit when you pitch it to him, I was surprised and impressed. He gets it from his Daddy, certainly not me!

Joshie Boy and Jacob Pants as they are respectfully known in our household love each other to pieces. Jacob sings and reads to Joshie to make him happy and he always tries to console him when he is crying. Joshie loves when Jacob is around. In fact, he cares less about everyone else if Jacob is with him. It is wonderful and I hope they will grow with each other and be great friends.

Joshie Boy is the most smilely man ever :) He can roll over, sit up, and reach for you. He wants to just crawl away but he is not quite there yet. He is cuddly and lovable but he is a loud little man who doesn't like to sleep! We love us some Joshie Boy!!!!

My wonderful boy Jacob is growing so quickly. He talks up a storm and makes us laugh everyday. Today he said he was going to ask Daddy to come by us to hang. haha He loves helping and playing outside. He goes to school 3 days a week and loves making projects and playing with his friends. He is a joy!

Sooo most of you know that my boy Jacob had to get stitches as a result of bonking heads with a friend at school. He was unbelievably well behaved. He even fell asleep while they stitched him up. He looked so funny with his little hospital shirt and his bandage. Later on the bandage was off and the sweat band was on to make sure he didn't hit it again.

While Jon, Joshie and I were resting we put Jacob down for a nap in his room. We heard him playing but figured it was fine, nothing in there for him to get hurt with and it was giving us a little break. I started hearing a banging and went to investigate. Here is what I found!!!

SOMEONE (Jon) left the powder on the floor and Jacob thought it was just way too much fun not too. Haha at least it was easily cleaned and his room smelled very nice after!!

Christmas was wonderful. A little overwhelming for both parents and children, but none the less a great time. Jacob visited many relatives and received WAY TOO many gifts. Joshua was along for the ride and received many gifts as well.

Baby Brother has arrived

7lbs 14 oz 21 inches long

So Jacob had his first ear infection and was so sick the entire time Joshie (Jacob's name for his brother) and I were in the hospital. Needless to say he missed us and we missed him very much. His first encounter with Joshie was when we arrived home with him. He just wanted to kiss him! We had a few rough days with Jacob but all is good now. Joshua has been a great baby just likes to be held A LOT! Thank goodness for snugglie's and slings!

Jacob went to his new school today for a Thanks giving feast. Even though he hasn't started yet they invited us to join in the festivities! He did very well and kept saying to mommy and daddy..."The Kids". We think he is really going to like being around other ones his age. I can only hope he is a nice kid and not a bully pushing people around. He is a bit bossy these days so I guess we can only wait and see!

When we got home he mentioned his teacher's name already, Miss Kathie. I hope he remembers her next week when he starts!

He also got some early birthday presents from his grandparents and cousins. Since the new baby is coming we didn't want to miss his birthday entirely. He has been vacuuming and playing with tools "like Daddy's" for a whole day now. He LOVES his new things and mommy does too since they keep him occupied for awhile.

Cousin Bryan had a birthday party today. Jacob had lots of fun with his cousins. He liked cooking in the kitchen, he made cousin Grieg "sit down" and cook with him. Aunt Lucia helped him ride a bike and Pop took a stroll with him. Mommy even let him eat cake since it was all organic, he really enjoyed it (except he ate around the icing!).

Jacob is getting to be a such a big boy. He is saying so many words like bug, elmo, and he loves to say Bye or Hi to everyone! I have had more than one complaint about being a slacker on the blog. I apologize to everyone.

Let me bring you up to speed on some exciting highlights in our boys life.

Jacob now says a few additional words such as mana for banana and woo woo (for his doggie stuffed animal) and duckie. Ball continues to be his favorite. He is just the cutest when he says them. He is getting very independent. He likes to walk without holding hands, which he doesn't get to do too often. He also likes to feed himself whatever he is eating even though he makes a disaster of a mess. Last night he successfully used a fork for bananas and he tried for spaghetti but that was a little tougher.

He loves to give kisses and hugs and most of the time you don't even have to ask. He is also getting pretty good at talking on the phone...its very funny.

Four more teeth are coming in and he is a bit cranky at times but overall handling it well. He has also become a bit feisty which we are trying to nip in the bud. He has his moments until we have to briefly remind him that we always win...ah the joy of being the parent!

He recently visited his friend Casey for his 1st birthday. The first time they met they both cried, but this time they enjoyed playing with ping pong balls and banging on the front door.

What a lucky mommy I am to have such a lovable boy. He will just come over to me and nestle his little head saying ma-ma and give kisses. It is the absolute cutest thing ever! haha

He is building a vocabulary. Yesterday Grandma Towey taught him to say peanut butter. His version is BUH-DER. He was even saying it all last night in the midst of his cries and this morning while playing. He is also saying duck, birdie, mama, dada, and HI as of this AM. I told him to say hi to the neighbor and he did! Very funny.

Nice Weekend

1st Haircut

Jacob had is first haircut this past weekend by Grandma. It was a complete an utter horrid experience for all. Jacob did NOT like it even a little. He was screaming most of the time but thankfully still liked grandma after it was all over. He now looks like a "real" boy! It took some getting used to but it is really cute. Mommy got some yummy kid tabs from the health food store and grandpa reported his nose wasn't running too much anymore...woohoo for natural remedies.

Anyway, the cutest thing is that he sits down and watches his cartoons or Baby Einstein movies. I love watching him enjoy it!

Time Passed

I realize it has been ooodles and oodles of time that has gone by since I last updated everyone. To miss out in the Adventure of Jacob is just too sad. So here I am again to update you promptly.

SOOOOOO..........

Our little man has finally accepted a bottle with Soy Milk!! WOOHOOO for mommy!! He also loves all kinds of juices and lets not forget water. He loves pasta and peas, sweet potatoes, cheerios and really anything anyone has. He still can't have dairy or eggs but we make due for now.

He is running all over and playing independently. He has so many teeth. He laughs when he burps and when you change his stinky diaper.

The newest member of our family is an 8 week old Lab named Lucy. She and Jacob are becoming good friends. Lucy goes to Jacob's bedroom door and cries when she wants him and Jacob continually calls out DOO DOO, which is apparently her name!

I promise I will update again soon and post pictures as soon as Daddy finds the camera charger and I can put them on the computer...come on Dad we are all waiting.......

Weaning

So we started weaning Jacob this week. So far he seems to be fine with it. Instead of a bottle mid-morning he has fruit or oatmeal which he seems very happy with. He also is drinking more and more water. Mommy is wearing down on being a milk machine so hopefully within a few months he will be fully weaned and Mommy will regain her personal space, although it was a pleasure to give my son what I could for as long as I have.

On another note my sweet man is going to have a fantastic birthday party with lots of family and friends and of course kiddies! Mommy is having a very good time planning it all and can't wait for it. Jacob loves "My Friends Tigger and Pooh" ...he gets so excited when the song comes on and he dances away...so cute!

With the assistance of Grandma Towey Jacob finally has shoes he can walk in. Today I brought him outside to walk through the leaves while I put his car seat and bags in the car...what a relief not to have to hold him to do everything! He was talking to me very loudly as he was super excited to be FREE in the yard!

I still haven't had a chance to try and get a video of the cutest walker up yet. But I promise it's coming soon.

Last night Jacob walked again to the door but this time he waited at the gate where mommy and daddy could see him, so no more screaming!

Ouch!

Last night Jacob decided to try something new! He got up from his sleeping area and walked to the door to see if he could get out. We normally close the door but after last night that will change.

So I heard him moving around and wanted to make sure he was ok. When I opened the door I couldn't see him anywhere! I then heard him again and realized he was in the corner of the wall and door. I assume he thought he was trying to open the door but went to the wrong end. I then opened the door carefully as not to hit him but turns out he had his itty bitty fingers in there. So the 3AM screaming began. Ouch Mommy! I felt so bad, but he was ok.

Tonight we shall gate the door and leave it open!

Looking Back

I know it's really boring, but what else can we talk about except teeth, walking, pooping, sleeping and eating! I mean that's pretty much Jacob's life! So he got his 7th tooth this weekend and is working on his 8th.

He started sipping some soy milk which he seems to like except when we really want him to drink it of course.

In his walking excitement he decided to try and take lots of mommy's fun makeup in his hands and walk over to the toilet ready to drop them in, but mommy was too quick for him and he didn't get to try that out just yet! Hopefully we will not get to experience this one ever!

A day of visiting

Today Jacob visited Casey for the first time. They were very cute together. They wanted to hang out but when too close they both kind of freaked out...hahaha. It made the grown ups laugh! I wish I video taped it!

After visiting Casey we went to Pop-pop and Oma's to visit. Jacob had a great time and laughed and played!

Later we went to visit Tita Nette for her Birthday. Jacob was the entertainment and let everyone man handle him like a champ!

Daddy's Birthday

Today was Jacob's first Halloween! He dressed up as Tigger and went around to the neighbors in his little car. He loved seeing all the other kids and of course being outside. Mommy and Daddy had a great time with him and handing out candy!

Vacation

Mommy and Daddy took some vacation days to spend with the little man. Today was the first AND it was Mommy's Birthday! We spent the day just hanging out together, that's the best day there is.

Traveling Boy

Jacob went to Philadelphia to cheer his Daddy on in the Madden tournament today. He even took a nap like a good boy, but woke up just in time to see Daddy play. It was fun and Jacob is proud of Daddy for trying!

We also went to the Rainforest cafe for Phillip's 16th Birthday!It was lots of fun and Jacob LOVED the fish and animals everywhere. He pretty much conked out after this long day as soon as he was buckled in for the ride home!

ER Visit

*Mommy note*It's been awhile and getting longer between posts. Between this little guy, the house, school, work and of course a cold life is a bit hectic. So let me fill you in on the latest.

Jacob had his first visit to the ER this past weekend. He has had bad reactions to milk products in the past but this was a whole new bad reaction. He started coughing and broke out in some serious rash where he almost looked purple at his worst. He also got sick ALL over mommy in the ER. (If you know mommy, she doesn't handle that well...but she surprisingly manned up!) After throwing up the liquid they tried to give him (second time he got sick in the ER!), Jacob received two shots and was better in a few hours. He had some lasting affects for 2 days but now he is his delightful self once again.

**Let me caution you all to NOT feed Jacob anything unless mommy or daddy say ok, we would like to avoid that mess again!**

So Jacob just got his 6th tooth and is working on 7! The drool, biting and ear pulling has only begun it seems. Other than teething Jacob is a happy boy lately. He crawls around the house following mommy and daddy. He loves to say Da-Da-Da-Da. Every now and again ma ma breaks the scene. He laughs at the silliest things and he is fun to play with!

He also just learned to clap his hands. It is the cutest!

As you can see I post less and less. I suppose that is due to the fact that I rarely have a second where Jacob isn't trying to press the keys on the keyboard or grab something he shouldn't! It is so cute to see him follow us around the house, crawling and smiling. He loves being able to go on his own. He has acquired many bumps and bruises already and I am sure there are only more to come. He doesn't like sleeping too much during the day anymore because really who would when they can crawl, play, eat and stand up!

9 Months Old

Jacob turned 9 months old yesterday. He celebrated by going to dinner with Grandma Joanie and his Dad! He had a good time but wore himself out! Look how our boy has grown.

We took Jacob to the doctor yesterday for his 8 month checkup. He weighed in at 20.12 lbs and 29". What a big boy! He is getting ready to eat some new foods since he is moving around a lot and tries to steal everyone else's food off their plates! The doctor said he is advanced in all his motor skills and all the teeth he is getting.
The only thing he didn't like was when the doctor used the cold thing to look in his ears, other than that he was pretty cooperative.

Sleep Crawler

We have a sleep crawler on our hands! It is pretty much one of the funniest things I have ever seen. Jacob will be sound asleep and the next thing you know he is sitting up and then trying to crawl. We thought he was waking up and trying to play but low and behold his eyes were closed! We have to grab him and set him back down if he isn't in his crib for safety reasons of course. Hopefully we can get some video of that and let you all see just how funny it is!

Standing Up

Over the weekend our dear boy has learned to stand up all on his own with no hands! He has also discovered how to turn himself over and sit, then stand in his crib! This is presenting many sleep issues but we will get there.

Jacob had a great weekend. He visited Pop-pop and Oma on Saturday. He then visited Tita Nette's house and many Aunts and Uncles were there. He Also visited Aunt Claudia and played with all her cool singing dolls. On Sunday Grandma and Grandpa came to visit and then went to visit Marybeth, David and her parents.

We need to get a good picture where Jacob is showing his new pearly whites. He now has 3 on the bottom, 1 broken through on the top and another one on the top making its way out. It is just horrid when they break through. He only wants to be carried and sleeping is tough. I feel bad for him and I hope it gets easier after the top come out all the way.

The cutest thing ever last night!! Jacob was snuggling with mom and dad and fell asleep. He woke up only to look up at me and smile so big!! He then went back to sleep and woke up a few more times with smiles to share. Talk about melting mommy's heart!

Some Mommy Time

Since I do not have too much time with my little man during the week I have taken to sleeping next to him. He snuggles close and I think it makes for a happier mom and baby. Mommy time is important for both of us...I guess we just had to figure out when to have it!

Pop-Pop's 65th Birthday Party

Jacob had a nice time Sunday at Pop-pop's birthday party. He made friends with Lauren, who was very friendly and liked being with Jacob. He was a very good boy at the table and let Aunt Lucia hold him for a long time without making a fuss!

A 3rd Tooth

Well I have been ill and of course at this very same time Jacob is getting his 3rd tooth! So Mommy and Baby are a hot mess to say the least! We now know his attitude when it comes to getting a tooth...he wants to be carried and nurse all the time. It is pretty much all he wants to do until the little bugger breaks through all the way. We can see its appearance but it is still not quite through. Hopefully this one will be over soon, but I am sure there will be another soon to follow.

We have to try and get a good picture of his teeth to share...he only shows them when he laughs or cries hard, other than that he is shy about them! ha-ha

Grandpa is the BEST

So Jacob LOVES Grandpa the best lately. He will choose him over anyone including Jon and I. He kicks and smiles so big when he sees or hears him. Grandpa claims he hasn't been giving him candy or soda but I can't help but wonder?! Ha-ha But seriously it is very nice that he loves him so much! Grandpa plays with him all day...I bet he knows that now and looks forward to it! He is Grandpa's boy!

All Jacob did yesterday was babble and laugh. He has officially learned to get up from lying down and pull himself up to the standing position. He likes bouncing on the couch and falling on his butt...it makes him laugh every time! (Daddy or Mommy are of course with him for this fun game)

Can't believe he is doing these things already! It is exciting and fun.

Cousin Krysta's Birthday

Today we went to Krysta's 16th Birthday party. We brought a new pool for Jacob to swim in since it was so hot. He enjoyed it very much of course. He got beach toys from Aunt Ann and Uncle Phil, a Hummer from Aunt Claudia and a new outfit from Gloria. He is such a lucky boy!

It's all about the POOP

Our poor child has been struggling to poop. Oh dear! He turns red and grunts. After this terrible struggle he usually only has a little round poop...not much for all the effort. We have established his cereal has way too much iron for him. After a good 3 days of no cereal he is a happy pooper once again! YEA!

A happy pooper makes for a much more delightful and restful boy!

We're back from Kansas. It was a beautiful wedding and fun for Jacob to meet so many new family members. We can't wait to bring Daddy to Kansas next time.

Visiting

We had a very busy weekend visiting with many people. Jacob was overall a very good boy although struggled with his teeth and being tired because of all the running around.

Friday night was Jacob's first visit to Summit. He visited all his Aunt, Uncles and cousins and met Queenie, Hector, Mario and Plummy for the first time!

Saturday the little one spent the day with Pop-pop and Oma. He was a wonderful boy for them and they had lots of fun!

Sunday Jacob got to meet Uncle Johnny from Florida and Danny and Nicole! He was so friendly to everyone and enjoyed spending time with us especially Aunt Jamie and Grandma.

I will post some new pictures as soon as I can. We are getting ready for Jacob's second plane ride, this time to Kansas for cousin Vinnie's wedding.

Poor little man

The puppy is just hurting so badly. Wednesday night he woke up so many times screaming. Those teeth are giving him a tough time. Yesterday Mommy stayed home with him and he had a rough day. Nothing really helps, we just have to wait for those little buggers to break through. Last night he started off bad again so we finally broke down and gave him some Motrin. It actually helped him sleep...which we all needed. Hopefully he will feel a little better today. Grandpa and Daddy are going to take good care of him!

Water Bottles and Teeth

Our boy loves water bottles. Not sure why the obsession, but it's cute. He knows just what to do with it. He wants to be a big boy already and drink like mommy and daddy. I also think he likes to bite on it because its hard and cold, the perfect ingredients for a teething baby. Speaking of teeth. I think he is getting a row all at once! He is a fussy pants, but he will get through it like a champ!

Smithville

We went to Smithville today with Grandma Joanie. It was hot but we had fun shopping and walking around the town. Grandma spoiled Jacob, of course!

First Time at the Beach and Boardwalk

Many visitors were here today. Tito Bong came from Flordia along with Grandma, Grandpa, Tita Steph and Tito Steve. Jacob went to the beach and boardwalk for the first time. He is not quite sure he likes sand yet, but he enjoyed the nice weather. We also have our appearance of his second tooth!

So we have site of a bottom tooth! Yipppee! It's not quite all the way out, but it's sharp, white and peaking out of the gum!

We had a nice day Sunday with Aunt Sue. We went to Stewart's and had some snacks and then visited Grandma and Grandpa. Jacob loves swimming with them so much!

Finally sleeping

It is quite amazing that all of a sudden our boy is sleeping through the night. He doesn't wake up at all until morning. I guess it was time! I actually miss him and wish he would wake up to say hello to me! Oh well, I wanted sleep and now I have it.

Looking Back

It is quite amazing how much our little boy has grown up. He is 6 months old and it feels like we blinked. We were looking at pictures of the day he was born and can't believe how much he has changed already. He is such a joy to the both of us, we are so lucky to have him. He is getting better at eating his food, sitting up, playing and moving to his tummy. He also is sleeping more at night, which we are all thankful for. Simply fantastic!

We had a nice day relaxing day with family at Uncle Johnny and Aunt Paige's house! It was kind of cold for swimming, but Jacob likes getting his feet wet no matter the weather. He played with all his cousins and had a great time!

A wonderful night

A good sleep was finally had by Jacob and mommy. He did wake up 2 times as usual but ate and promptly went right back to sleep. I even had to wake him up this morning as he was going to make me late. He woke up stretching and smiling, so very cute. He also had a morning pee on his leg...I couldn't even be upset he was so cute!!

We can't wait to share July 4th together tomorrow...we shall have some cute pictures!

A Rough Night for the Family

The little man had a hard time last night. He gets himself stuck sideways in his crib and it really disturbs the rest of his sleep. He is always kicking and moving because its kind of tight! He also scratched himself pretty good on the face which of course made him wake up in a scream.
Tonight, as per Daddy, we are going to try to get him to sleep in his pack and play. It is a bit wider and maybe he will not be so uncomfortable.

We had a very nice weekend though. It was relaxing and all 3 of us had a fun time hanging out together.

A nice morning

This morning was so lovely. My sweet boy woke up around 6:30AM and played and talked until mommy got up. He was so fun to hang with. Then around 8:30 we snuggled in mommy and daddy's bed and he fell asleep for an hour while I got ready for work.
He tried to share his pacifier with me this morning, very kind but I passed!
I was sad I had to leave him but he was excited to see Grandpa when we got to his house so I know he will have a fun day.

Working Mom

I never thought it would be this difficult being a working mom. I know it's only been 6 months but it's been a hard 6 months. All I want to do is be home with the stinker. I want to be the one who takes care of him and loves him up everyday. It's a weird feeling to have someone else get to do that. At least we are lucky enough to have family with him everyday...we know they love him so much and they take good care of him.

It's so stressful to be a woman! Sorry men but I'm not sure you will ever understand, we are simply wired differently. You not only are a woman with somewhat of a career you also feel like you are responsible for the baby, the house and of course still being a wife to your husband. It's a lot of things to be all at once. Sometimes I think that back in the day they had it right - women stayed home and men went to work. Then I rethink that and say I can be all these things. I like being independent, I just wish I could be out of the house for less hours a day. I spend WAY more time at work then at home with my family like most people do these days.

The puppy (Jacob) did really well last night. He didn't fuss too much when Daddy and I put him to bed. He still woke up twice, but better then 3-4 times I guess. We are getting there. Today he is with Grandpa and hopefully will be a good boy!

Learning to sleep is no fun

So last night I decided that Jacob really needs to learn the art of sleep. He gives me, his daddy and his grandparents a hard time everyday when trying to get to sleep. He always wants a bottle or mommy and frankly I am tired. Here comes the big idea, let's put him to sleep while he is WIDE awake and let him cry. Great idea in theory, however our child was crying for quite awhile and very hard. I think it was just as traumatic for me. I decided to give him a wet wash clothe to sooth his very hot upset self (mom's idea) and upon walking in with it he puked a pretty large amount. Needless to say that put an end to the let him cry phase that we let go on for almost a solid hour.

We came up with anew approach that seems to have worked. He slept pretty well and now we will see if that continues tonight...the good sleep could have been because he wore himself out! We shall see.
